Memo #3: HBD

It’s my birthday! My favorite day of the year!

The bad news is, like clockwork, I woke up with a kink in my back that reminded me I’m no longer “young”. I’m middle age. But I’m ready to embrace it!

The good news is, there’s no new shock to the number because I’ve spent the last six months thinking I was already 38.

Lots of people don’t care about their birthday, but I’m not one of those. This is not just another day. This is MY day!

And this year’s has been especially wonderful.

I ate scones with the Demlers (an annual tradition). Had a birthday lunch that expanded into dinner on the weekend with my parents, brothers, sister in laws, and all the kids (but super missed you Bella!) I got to run with Kristy, my most favorite running partner! Celia’s for lunch, poke for dinner. A surprise visit from my mom. Beautiful flowers from my dad. Pickleballing, meaningful gifts, and a phone vibrating every 15 minutes with another happy birthday wish.

In particular, Blake made Running Late Coffee Co stickers for my homemade lattes, and Brent used AI to write me a song. How special is that?!

I love this life and all the people in my tribe. From the bottom of my heart, thank you everyone for the best day.
